Is there anything more Summer than lemonade? Homemade lemonade is an easy summer treat with so many fun variations that bring nature into your kitchen. We love infusing seasonal fruits and fresh herbs to the Summertime classic.

Lemonade...
Make a simple syrup. Add 2 cups of sugar and 2 cups of water to a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
Juice your lemons. Strain the juice of 6-8 lemons through a fine mesh to avoid seeds, then add to a pitcher.
Combine syrup and lemon juice. Add more water, to taste, until you reach your desired lemonade sweetness.
Chill.
Plant-powered additions…
Ripe peaches, berries, or melons all make great additions. Add directly to your pitcher and slightly bruise fruits with the back of a fork to release juices.
Herbs add lovely flavor and are a great way of introducing these new flavors. We love Rosemary, Sage, Mint, Cuban Oregano, and Basil.
Muddle fresh herbs directly into your glass
Add them when making your simple syrup for a more intense flavor
Blend herbs with water or fruit juice and make ice cubes
Teachable Moments…
Making your simple syrup- Sneak in a quick science lesson, while dissolving sugar into water for your lemonade syrup. ** Use equal parts sugar and water, have kids do the measuring and observe the process with you. Cheers!
